We Are Here to Help
Master the art of using amateur radio for fun, learning, community service, and emergency communication. No matter how you learn, we have a course that can help you get started or go to the next level. We’ve carefully designed our courses for people who have not had success with the available traditional learning platforms. We recognize that people have different reasons for wanting to engage in radio as well as different ways to be successful at retaining information.

AARN Courses are provided at no charge. We believe financial status should not prevent enjoyment of the hobby.

About us
An excellent foundation for future success.
Like formal education, which is designed to work for a subset of the population at the expense of the other ~40%, it seems like the ham radio test prep process really doesn’t work for everyone. This isn’t a jab at how people think, but how the system fails because it doesn’t think.
The current test preps and vast majority of courses are designed from two opposite groups: just memorize the answers for free or take a hand-held course that is from the perspective of people who live & breathe radio, where it isn’t just a hobby, it is a passion to the point of identity. You get to either just mail it in or learn how to drive from Jeff Gordon when you really just want to be able to get to work in the morning. Knowledge in a subject doesn’t make you a good teacher – can be just the opposite – but understanding learning does.
The community hammers on people who want or get a radio for casual or prepping purposes to GET LICENSED. That person, yes, needs to know enough to pass the test, but they most likely not going to be building a shack, DXing for hours on a Sunday at the top of a mountain, or collecting contacts like Pokemon. They want to know enough to be able to understand how to program their radio, what the is this SSB that is on the test but not explained, use the radio when they need to, and feel comfortable doing so. We are potentially leaving behind the casual operator and – very important to keep the hobby alive – generations that have grown up on tech just working right out of the box.
We don’t want to revolutionize the system. We want to help those who the system fails. If that is just a small percentage of the population, we are ok with that.
